comment What is the maximum resolution supported by a standard DVI-VGA adapter?
I still don't understand which part of my answer is wrong (which you should supply supporting sources), and why you are choosing to bash my answer. If you have an answer that is better than mine, feel free to post it. No need to try to start a conflict.

@JamieHanrahan, thanks for digging this ancient answer up to bash my research. Can you identify your sources on why my research (containing sources) is incorrect? Also, when I was stating overclocking, I was using to a metaphor. I was not stating that overclocking a CPU would give you higher resolution. Another point, I was identifying that VGA is generic, and that there are many forms of it, hence the chart. The WUXGA was also defined in the chart that is part of my answer. 1920X1200 is accomplishable by using WUXGA without the weird software, obviously.. It was part of the chart...

comment Graphics card utility that enables moving image(display) area of the screen to the right
Thank stinks.... Sorry it didn't get you your goal... I have never actually toyed around with that setting, but thought it would work here. Perhaps someone else will have that special tool you need for this. Good luck! Worst case scenario, you would use Gimp (free version of Photoshop), to add the black bars on the sides of the pictures to create a picture that will resolve your problem (wide enough with black bars), but that is not an ideal solution.

@Yoda, I added a new screenshot to my answer to help show you where I am talking about. I know the title bar says "Steam", but that is only because it is licensed through Steam.

comment Silverlight with IE and Firefox
A lot more information is needed. What kind of research and troubleshooting have you done so far? What OS are you using? What versions of each piece of software are you using? What kind of AV are you using? I am seeing a lot of solutions when I try researching what you typed. Here is basically what I did. lmgtfy.com/?q=firefox+and+ie+repeat+silverlight+install

It took 15 months to start working again spontaneously? Interesting... I guess we should add that to the troubleshooting steps.

comment What is the equivalent of sudo in Windows 7?
Hi @MUYBelgium, you are correct. I do know this now, but There is no other method for doing anything remotely close in Windows unfortunately. I do need something like this currently, but there is no solution. This is the closest method...

comment How to avoid extra white space below paragraph in email signatures
Would it be possible for you to add in the HTML code and possibly the CSS so we can see it, but put in dummy info so you are not posting personal information? Make sure you use the "Code Sample" feature when posting that into your questions for ease of reading. Also, don't be deterred if this question is moved to the programming stack exchange site or stack overflow. I'm not 100% sure, but you may get better answers there. We will move it if it needs to be moved though.

comment Ubuntu VM “read only file system” fix?
I know this is a late answer to the question @socken23 asked, but I just noticed it and it may help someone else in the same situation reading the question. The directory /mnt/cdrom does not necessarily have to exist. If it doesn't exist, you can just run the command "mkdir /mnt/cdrom" to create it.

You use three different acronyms there... IOS (apple operating system), OSI (Open Systems Interconnection), and ISO (ISO 9660 file system).

I don't know that much about the licensing of the software. I used it as a lab one time, then uninstalled it. Again, I would ask their support about the purchasing and licensing of the product.

comment VMware Workstation
Every time I have used it as a VMware partner with my company (data center), I just download it. I have not purchased it as a consumer (non-business). I assume you would just download it. Sorry for providing an answer that was not helpful to you. Your initial question was not clean enough. Perhaps you should ask their sales department, things like that are likely to change over time.

comment I have a dv6 3122us laptop, and wondering what kind of upgrades i can get for games?
I know this question has been closed as off-topic, but as a tip that I have done and have suggested to people that can handle it is to install an easy to use Linux OS on the computer. Linux uses a lot less resources than Windows, therefor the graphics can be dialed up a few notches to make a better experience. I know someone who recently installed Linux Mint on their old laptop and now have Minecraft set to max graphics settings. They were at the worst settings with Windows Vista. Linux Mint is an easy to use, free OS that could accomplish the task. I don't know if Tekkin would be compatible.

Welcome to the Super User community. Maybe you could elaborate a little bit more... Are you getting an error? Maybe you could provide some nice screenshots.

I didn't see where you mentioned it was on a portable device. Which device are you running TeamViewer on? I now realize you are running it on TeamViewer portable, but what type of device are you running it on?

Have you checked for blocked firewall ports? If you are doing this in an isolated environment (not connected to the internet), try disabling all firewalls as a quick easy test to confirm whether or not it is a firewall issue. Also, is this noticed on both sides of the phone conversation or just one way?

Is it time for an upgrade yet? If I were in this circumstance professionally, or if it were in my personal setup, I would personally upgrade. If all the hardware is severely outdated, an upgrade is in order. This is not an opinion, it is just the way it is. VM's can emulate DOS if that is all you need.

comment Windows 8.1 not in Fedora 20 boot
If you don't really care about Windows, just continue to use Fedora 20 and get used to it. Fedora is a perfectly good operating system. In my opinion, Linux Mint is easier for computer illiterate people to get used to.

comment Windows 8.1 not in Fedora 20 boot
Take your computer to a professional (not Geek Squad). You are not suitable to complete this level of work. If you know what Fedora 20 is and you have a purpose for it, then ask the professional to set your computer up for dual boot with Windows 8.1 re-installed and Fedora 20. If you have no idea what Fedora 20 is, then just ask for Windows 8.1 to be re-installed. It would take an obnoxiously long time for me to walk you through the process and most techs would expect to be paid for this task. Please note that the tech's on this site are volunteering their time to help.
