@geodave: Just about everything you'll find in Belarc you can find simply by typing msinfo32 [return] in the >Start>Run box or command prompt. It's free and already installed! (Belarc is free only for personal use).

I was not aware that the wireless router could connect to another wireless router. I like your idea. I'll put a wireless router upstairs and a hardwire from it down to the printer. Thanks!

@reinerpost: So it is conceivable that the disk sort of locks up, suddenly. The system is able to work with anything it already has loaded into memory, but no disk i/o is possible post lockup. Try the livecd.
