I must clear my cmos to be able to boot
I have the same problem with an ASUS PK5C. It is a dual channel mobo. I substituted my ddr2 with ddr3 and then I'm only able to boot when the CMOS is clear. I suspect that the CMOS itself is gone. I solved removing the CMOS battery and booting without it.
