comment Using FFmpeg filter without video conversion
However, this seems like bad architecture. E.g. what if I want to do a "setpts=2*PTS" filter to slow down the video. That should be able to run with only demuxing and muxing and should not require transcoding! (Because it's not accessing the pixel data, just the frame metadatas).

comment Is there a Windows exe that does nothing?
For me, csc.exe was not on my path, but it was located at C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\csc.exe

comment How I can make sudo session an hour and not few minutes in Ubuntu 10.04?
Much less safe than typing sudo before the few commands you want to run as root, with the convenience of not having to retype the password. See Bobby's much better answer below.

comment How do I launch a bash script from Finder in OS X?
fyi, if anyone tries to softlink to a script, the script itself (the destination of the softlink) has to end in .command, and the link itself can have any extension. weird, I know.

You're right, bad example. In real life I am actually doing "touchmod", which is a personal alias that touches and then chmods u+x.

Unfortunately, stderred breaks "open" and "mvim" for Mac users like the OP.
