comment Where can I find a comprehensive list of Fedora17 hotkeys?
Hotkeys will depend on the desktop environment such as KDE or Gnome. Which one are you using?

comment How do you gunzip a file and keep the .gz file?
@Sen: pkunzip is more directly comparable to tar -xzf <filename.tar.gz>; it extracts multiple files from a compressed file, and does not remove the compressed file. In *NIX systems, the concepts of "bundle multiple files together" and "compress data" aren't conflated like they are with .zip. This means that when new compression systems come along, we don't have to reinvent/reimplement the "bundle multiple files together" code/logic.

@PatricB.: true, though in this context, I'm expecting him to incorporate it into a script

comment how to access resource fork of hfs+ filesystem on linux
That worked; thanks. Files without a resource fork on the hfs+ filesystem would give a 'permission denied' error when I tried to access /rsrc, which let me determine which files had resource forks and which didn't.

comment Can you add a hard drive to a RAID?
I haven't tried it recently, but Linux software RAID5 was able to create a 2-disk RAID5, and worked fine, including degraded operation and rebuild. Think of a two-disk RAID5 as a computationally expensive RAID1. But it does buy you the ability to add disks later.

@puk: Sorry, a major software upgrade had changed some link locations. I've fixed those now.

Oh, and you may also need to deal with sticky bits; I suspect chowning /bin/su may clear its sticky bit.

A bootable CD will get you started, but you've got a mess on your hands even then....

comment Is it possible to run NXT-G software under Linux using Wine?
@Jan: Yay! There's another Linux-only person here! :) Oh, and check my blog (in my profile) for Linux ports of Lego-related software. (But not NXT-G, sorry.)

Finally had a chance to try this. Unfortunately, the accented characters in the document render as boxes even in WordViewer.

As Fedora releases updates to Vim, I'm updating the patch. See retracile.net/wiki/VimBreakIndent for the latest.

comment Is it possible to use a laptop as an external monitor?
Synergy+ would be great if it worked with vmware on the client... but it seems that I can't use shift, ctrl, or alt. Bug report: code.google.com/p/synergy-plus/issues/detail?id=10

"In the past I have had great success with..." Uh... how many USB flash drives have you broken in this way? Have you considered that maybe you should be gentler with these things? ;)

Very cool, but not really what I meant. You took it a bit more literally than I intended, so my fault there. I'll see if I can clarify.

comment How do you remove the Wiki & Tickets from Trac?
You should be able to disable the trac.wiki module the same way.
