comment Is there a Windows program to search for files that has these 4 specific features?
I would like to have reopened this question. I have 4 very specific requirements, I am not looking for a list of alternatives to Windows' search.

@outsideblasts, @fluxtendu: can you give a hint on how to use modification date and file size in the search? I have downloaded and run Everything, but can't find the place to set these options.

Thanks. I have read through the FAQ now. Indexing can be controlled by simply quitting Everything. But can it use modification date and file size in the search?

@Neo: I have updated the answer. In step 5 there was something missing due to a formatting error.

@grunwald.philipp: can you elaborate on what you mean by "weird file format"? E.g. is it about ASCII/UTF-8/Unicode?

For reference: format="0" is Windows/DOS line ending sequence (CR LF). encoding="0" is for ANSI (others are UCS2Big/UCS2small/UTF8/UTF8-BOM).

Exact duplicate (100%, word for word): superuser.com/questions/112849. A merge would be in order.

@Ro: for information on which services can safely be eliminated I can recommend Black Viper, e.g. blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

+1. It works. But how does it work? Using a cookie? It seems to be a setting per browser, not per computer.

(I am documenting this problem and its resolution as I used far too much time on it. I hope others will save some time.)

There seems to only be a PGP signature for the Windows version of Thunderbird 3.0.1, releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/… Isn't a public key needed to check the file? If yes, which public key would it be? (E.g. for the application or for Mozilla?)

comment What is a really good RSS reader for Firefox?
How-to: File/New/Account/RSS News & Blogs/Next/Next/Finish. Then click on the new "RSS News & Blogs" in the left hand panel/Manage subscriptions/Add/Feed URL/ "leoville.tv/podcasts/sn.xml"; /OK/<close>. Then click on the new sub item "Security Now!". Double click on any item in the list on the right. Right click on the MP3 file/Save As/ to download it.
