What version of Windows and PowerShell is required for this to work?

comment Native alternative to wget in Windows PowerShell?
Yes, this works out of the box on Windows 7 (that comes with PowerShell 2.0). Sample: $client.DownloadFile( "http://blog.stackexchange.com/", "c:/temp2/_Download.html")

comment Native alternative to wget in Windows PowerShell?
But Windows 7 only comes with PowerShell 2.0, and the result will be "The term 'Invoke-WebRequest' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, ...".

comment How to oil SMPS fan?
"NO power in it". Yes, for instance decharging all the capacitors (or at least measure the voltage), in particular the primary-side high-voltage capacitor. In order to do that, you must be absolutely sure what you are doing (so you don't electrocute yourself).

comment Grep-like functionality for Notepad++?
In later versions, e.g. 5.4.5, there isn't any "Mark" tab. Instead, there is a checkbox, "Mark Line", in the "Find" tab. And "Copy Bookmarded Lines" is direcly in the "Search" menu.

comment How to cancel Windows Update?
This is for Windows 8, but if it was for Windows XP the name in control panel "Services" would be "Automatic Updates", not "Windows Update".

comment Is it possible to pause the Windows Update download?
If it is a Windows service, wouldn't it be possible to do it from the Services window as well (for instance opened by Services.msc from the command line)? (service "Automatic Updates" in Windows XP and "Windows Update" in Windows 7.)

comment I have to cycle my LCD monitor's power on and off to get it to stay on
The usual disclaimers apply here - you could easily kill yourself if you don't know what you are doing. For instance, the primary side capacitor can be at 400 volts a long time after the power has been removed.

Does that work in newer versions of Notepad++? Or does it require selecting the option "Extended (\n, \r, \t, \0, \x)"?

OK, in Notepad++, selecting the option "Extended (\n, \r, \t, \0, \x)" makes it work.

comment Converting CSV to fixed-width in Notepad++?
Literally using "\t" does not work, neither in Notepad or Notepad++. It is always a challenge to use a TAB character in a dialog. A common work-around is to enter a TAB character in a document, put it into the clipboard by a cut (Ctrl + X) and pasting it into the field in the replace dialog.
