comment Determine which tab in Firefox is using CPU resources?
You might also have some success using the memory cleanup buttons in about:memory. I don't know if they will work as well as restarting Firefox. I would love to see some research on that.

comment Check CPU usage by tab or by add-on on firefox on mac
With Firefox 38 (running on Linux), I had to click Measure under Show Memory Reports in order to generate and view the tree you describe. (If this is the same on all platforms, it could make the answer a bit more complete.)

I was hoping for some ridges in the shape of arrows or other symbols/letters. It looks like these all say "BUMP", and the LocDots just give you a dot.

Is there any danger of the nail polish harming the plastic of the keyboard?

If you are having trouble connecting, you may need to pass -e ssh to tell rsync to connect over ssh.

rsync -avvP is my favourite for files and/or folders, but there is one drawback: it needs to be installed on the remote machine.

I recommend adding the -p option when copying files or folders with scp. It copies over the file attributes too (timestamps and flags). I find I want -p more often than I don't want it!

comment How can I get (g)Vim to display the character count of the current file?
Edited to include @intuited's suggestions, also appended to the statusline rather than overwrite it.

It's a bit clearer if we re-assign the variable rather than set the option

append to rather than replace status line, escaped spaces, added the missing parenthesis, used the +1 -1 trick for accurate reading, as per documentation
