LaserJet 6 doesn't have a network interface, it won't even take a JetDirect card. Thus, it can't have an IP address.

That's not the setting I meant. In Device Manager, go to the NIC. The last tab should be Power Management. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
