Well this particular program is going to systematically remove files from specific temp folders such as %temp%. And we want the user to see the before and after and since they will be seeing the file count for that reason it may be helpful for them to know how many of that total count is important files. Also this information may end up on a Details page for those users who want to know more about their file count. And we are not directing the user to %SystemRoot% for anything.

Maybe you would not find the number useful but if the average user finds that they have 300,000 files on their PC then it may be helpful for them to know that 80,000 of them are important, so many are temporary, so many are program files and so many are their personal documents. It's hard to provide too much data.

What about C:\Windows\Temp? Would this contain essential files or is this more like C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp?

I am not planning on having the program "randomly remove files". The essential file count is to give to user an idea of what percentage of their total file count is the backbones of windows.

If I remember right it was prompting me to go into safe mode. And again, if I remember right when I selected safe mode, windows would run normally until I restarted. Then the boot manager would appear again.

First off the problem has stopped occurring. Secondly when I turned on the computer instead of booting up normally the boot manager appeared. And There was only one OS to choose from.
