comment Can history files be unified in bash?
Better: PROMPT_COMMAND="$PROMPT_COMMAND"$'\n''history -a; history -n'

The export is not necessary. Because interactive shell options are supposed to be set from ~/.bashrc which is called from every sub shell, so inheritance is not necessary.

An awful solution to a basic shell programming problem. The right way: PROMPT_COMMAND="$PROMPT_COMMAND; history -a; history -n"

-1 because you're claiming it is mainly read only, and you can encounter some errors without backing your statement with references.

comment How to format an external hard drive as UDF on a Mac
Revision 2.60 of UDF wastes space with an additional partition for metadata. This feature is useful to increase performance for DVD/BD media, but it is useless on hard disk and flash as it will reduce write performance. I recommend to use instead revision 2.01.

comment Why does BitLocker need a minimum volume size of 64 MB?
The present of BitLocker is much more unclear. I would recommend to stay on TrueCrypt 7.1a and not upgrade until the situation is really clarified.

See also the script from Pieter Wuille that automates the UDF creation process and makes a partition table for better compatibility. I posted it as an alternate solution.

This is probably a permission issue. This question may have useful answers to solve our problem.

This works only for the current window. This isn't remembered, and the resizing still occurs, even if I change the "default" settings. Cmd.exe windows are fine.

I suffer from the same issue. The font is sized to bitmap 4x6 despites I set default settings for consoles to Lucida Console 24pt.

comment How to resize a partition in Vista with more choice?
I have the same issue, and defragmenting did not solve anything because the end of the disk has unmoveable blocks. Answer for this case would be welcome.

comment How to center batch files when they open up?
What do you mean by "center batch files"? Do you want the window that execute the batch file to be centered on the screen? Or do you want some content inside the window to be centered?
