Copying PNG with transparency from browser shows a black background instead Just a note; you can open the URL in Photoshop, saving you the intermediate step; Windows (I'm sure other OSes will do the same) will download it to a local temporary file, and open. This (I've just observed) retains transparency. |

Enable card plus onboard video Thanks for your quick response Tobias; That may work under different circumstances, however the third display I want to connect is actually a crappy 19" LCD TV with VGA in, it doesn't support DVI/HDMI/DP. Also, I don't currently have an HDMI cable, nor a DP cable, just several VGAs and the 2 DVIs currently in use. The card has 2xDVI, 1xDP and 1xHDMI. |

System speed throttled by low quality hardware? @MaQleod; Thanks, I have come to that conclusion and increasing RAM should circumvent such potential read/write lag, but am curious of other possible culprits too. |

System speed throttled by low quality hardware? Thanks Gilles; I understand there are no hard-and-fast answers to this sort of inquiry, but my example was quite specific to my situation. I'm considering 10K-RPM or SSD, as I'm running various resource-hog applications, such as the Adobe CS5 suite, and IDEs like VS 2010. I just don't want to end up in a situation where I acquire various high performance, high cost hardware components, only to have the overall operating speed jeopardized by a slow HDD or other possible culprits. Any suggestions to common pitfalls that some may experience when trying to build a balanced system? |
