@finiteloop Well I though you meant bloated as in it's used for too many functions. But yes, I agree with you there. And if you have your applications folder on your stack, you can access all of your installed apps just like launchpad, but in a much less intrusive way.

Then I don't think you're downloading it. Type "xcode" in the search bar on the top-right of the app store. If you see the Xcode icon and it has the button "install" on it, that means you weren't downloading it. Click that button and put in your itunes password.

You should see a little progress bar on the left side of your dock (under the launchpad icon). You can also open the app store and see the progress and speed there.

@bioinfoboy I've updated my question to include the version. I think Chrome may have updated when I went to check, since it asked me to restart. When I did, I checked a Wikipedia page, and found that it's exactly as it was when I left it (all highlighted).
