+1 for migration assistant.

comment When Visual Studio trial is expired, can I buy and use a valid license key for the current installation?
It's easier to do it from "Help" > Register Product than use Change Programs or Features.

comment What is the keyboard shortcut for minimizing a normal window?
That works only on Windows 7. There is no keyboard shortcut to do a single window at a time in XP without the help of a 3rd party tool. (Yes, you can use Alt+Space, n - but that's not really a shortcut, just using accelerator keys).

It happens to everyone.

comment New PC build crashes in Windows 7 64-bit
Do you get a minidump that can be analyzed? Being able to figure out if there is a faulting module, consistently, would go miles for figuring out what it is.

comment How to overcome error 0x800F0A12 while installing Win 7 SP1?
In your command prompt, is it elevated? (It will say "Administrator" in the title bar). If not, run it elevated by typing "cmd" in the start menu search, and holding "ctrl+shift" whild clicking it. Then try your mountvol.

comment why does Windows 7 x64 Explorer.exe suddenly gobble up all available RAM and slow my system to a crawl?
Temporarily boot into safe mode. That will disable all extensions and hooks into Explorer, and see if the problem is still there.

comment Dell XPS 710 - Boot Device Not Available
You could start by removing all but one of the DIMMs and seeing that doesn't work. If it doesn't, try a different one just incase that was the one that was bad. Also disconnect anything that isn't needed.

What exactly will you be using this VM for? A VM can only get you so much performance.

comment Windows 7 cannot find a WiFi network
Can you tell us more about the network? In what ways does it differ from other networks? What is the band, a/b/g/n? Router Name / Model, etc.

comment External speakers no longer working
To stop it, I think what you can do is right click "Computer", go to "Properties", then "View System Properties", and on the "Hardware" tab click "Device Installation Settings" and check, "No, let me choose", and "Never install driver software from Windows Update".

comment Installing a large number of fonts in XP at once
The Windows/Fonts directory is a Shell Extension that will take care of the registration for you when you paste.

comment Do any of the HP printers have implement printer sharing?
The newer HP models don't work that way - case in point my C4795 implements wireless printing, but requires drivers.

comment External speakers no longer working
I would rule out the hardware/windows by booting from a Linux Live CD and seeing if you can get it to play sound. If it exhibits the same problem, then it's hardware.

comment Windows batch-file that continues after launching each program
I find that odd. Looking at your edit, are these GUI type programs that don't have a console? If you run notepad.exe from the Console, it will not block the console from continuing.

comment Migrating Windows XP BOOT.INI Settings to Windows 7 Boot-loader
You would boot into Windows 7 and use bcdedit.exe to add additional items. BCDEdit is a little confusing, and there are a lot of wrappers around it like EasyBCD.

comment How to stop my mouse cursor from going out of the screen?
As far as I know every PC I've used in history has done that. I just got in the habit of moving my mouse in the upper-left direction if I lose it.

comment Computer reboots during “intensive activity”
+1 for thermal issues. Check the Processor, Chipsets, GPU(s), Powersupply, make sure fans aren't gunked up with dust. Make sure thermal paste is properly applied to all heatsinks, etc.
