comment Why can't I ping a PC on my home network?
You need to go into your router's configuration and remove the DNS suffix. Sometimes this is simply called "Domain Name" too, but I would consult your router's documentation.

comment How to properly uninstall visual styles in windows 7
Given that there is no proper way to install them in the first place, I'd refer to any recommendations of the program that put those changes there.

comment Will I suffer any major drawback(s) if I have the drive formatted as FAT-32
I would hope that the PS3 gets exFAT support soon, which I think would be a reasonable alternative to NTFS in this case.

comment MSSQL Server Management Studio Express 2005 license limit error should not be displayed
You can upgrade to SQL Express 2008 R2 which raises the limit to 10 GB.

comment How do I adjust the actual font sizes in Internet Explorer?
In addition to Zooming, you can look under "View" -> "Text Size" -> "Largest". This will change the text size but everything else will remain the same size, so scrollbars are less likely too appear. You may need to press "alt" when in IE to get the Edit menu to appear.

comment CD drive always available in a laptop
I would also check in your start menu and in the System Tray (the area near the clock) to see if there is an application for configuring the DVD drive. Usually it's some 3rd party piece of software.

comment What's an easy way to shut down a computer that I'm connected to via RDP
@David I was talking about using shutdown from the command line, not using the start menu since there is no start menu option to shut down over remote desktop.

Are you saying your CD/DVD drive doesn't work on battery? Usually in new laptops it's an option to turn off and there is a Tray Icon to enable/disable CD/DVD.

comment What's an easy way to shut down a computer that I'm connected to via RDP
@David That is not the case on Windows 7 or Vista then. Passing in -f will still cause it to wait 30 seconds. I suspect it is the same with XP as well, but don't have a machine to try it on.

If you want to do these actions immediately, add -t 0 to the command. Or change the 0 to the number of seconds before it happens. Defaults to 30.

comment Mac OS X 10.6 & Windows XP File Transfer Problems
This sounds like a Duplex issue with your network. Either your computers or router is half duplex, or there is a duplex mismatch. It's hard to diagnose this issue without getting a packet analysis.

comment Subversion multi checkout post-commit hook?
I would suspect that you would have to make a call to svnlook with $REPOS, pass $REV as --revision, and parse out the results yourself to get what you are looking for. The info or cat commands might give you the answer you are looking for, I'm a bit rusty on the details.

comment On Windows 7, Outlook 2010 Hangs and can not be killed
Unfortunately it's really hard to debug Office 2010 issues since Microsoft hasn't published symbols for it. Judging from your stack, something is blocking a shared resource or the thread is deadlocked.

comment Is there a way to manually restart the graphics drivers in Windows XP?
It was added in Vista. That was one of the big reasons for the driver model change that happened in Vista.

comment What are my recovery options if RAID architecture fails?
@Shalan - Just to clarify, that was with my experience using ESX 2.0. Maybe the tech has gotten better since then and that is no longer the case.

comment What are my recovery options if RAID architecture fails?
If you will be running ESX on it, then you have to use a hardware controller, simply because ESX will "See past" any software solutions. At least that has been my experience.

Turned my answer into a wiki. Feel free to add additional information.

I'd updated my answer. In addition I've always used controller cards simply because at work I am able to.

comment 32 bit colour in RDP still has colour banding
If you are domain joined, a System Administrator may have set a Group Policy setting that forces it to something less than 32-bit. They might do that for saving bandwidth, etc.
