comment Does the sync command in ubuntu transfer all data in RAM to my HDD?
You might need to do it a bit differently since IIRC raw1394 is no longer provided by default, but it should still be possible.

There is not exactly a command you can use for this (since the act of running such a command would change the state of the memory). Moreover if you're running a LiveCD, the HDD will probably not even be mounted, making it effectively impossible to write to it. However, if your computer has FireWire ports and you have another PC running Linux, you can use this method to dump the memory completely.

comment Will using a bicycle pump to clean my laptop damage it?
This answer would imply that it is not dangerous, since the static buildup on a vacuum nozzle comes from charged dust particles. I don't know whether this is accurate. In any event, keeping the needle away from sensitive components should help.

comment How can I force letterboxing on my display?
I think what I was getting at was that even if display does not provide a native 4:3 "zoom" setting, you can still make it work by setting the video mode manually.

comment How can I force letterboxing on my display?
I have successfully modified the display driver configuration on an ATI 5xxx series card to get it to display a strange resolution (I think 1598x900 or so) because I had some difficulty getting 1600x900 to work (I think it was an issue with the card BIOS). It involves changing the modelines specified in the driver INF file, but I would imagine it would work for any resolution provided you calculated everything correctly.

comment Is my Corei7 Running too hot?
Interesting, Speedfan is reporting an i7 but the link you gave does not offer that as an option. Are you sure it isn't this one? Anyway, IMO the CPU should shut down before that temperature can be reached. Tjmax for that i7 should be around 100C. So either something is defective or Speedfan is inaccurate.

comment How to copy a hard drive that is not formated
Usually the answer to this is dd. Just do dd if=/dev/sdX of=<image file> bs=16M where sdX is the source drive and <image file> is the destination filename. I don't know if a PS3 drive requires any special handling, though.

comment How should I decide on a default audio format?
Any time you resample you could potentially lose quality, but good software resampling (to 44.1 kHz or above) should not result in an audible decrease in quality. Resampling to a multiple of the original rate (e. g. 44.1 kHz to 88.2 kHz - rarely used except in studio masters, or 48 kHz to 96 kHz) should not cause any decrease in quality. Fractional scaling might, but properly done, should be inaudible.

comment Manage torrent from command line and download files sequentially
You should certainly be able to download individual files with rtorrent, in whatever order you like. From the files list, you can turn off downloading of each file by pressing the spacebar, then enable them in order. It won't happen automatically, though (although it might be possible to script that).

comment Do I need to be worried about these SMART drive temperatures?
You should be fine, then - based on this it looks like it's not actually reporting the raw value. Just to be sure, what is the output of smartctl -l scttempsts /dev/sdc?

comment Do I need to be worried about these SMART drive temperatures?
I suppose it could be a normalized value, but this would be atypical for a temperature reading. The detailed drive specification would be good to have, if the OP can say what model the Hitachi drives are.

comment how to install portable virtual box on LINUX HOST
If you will be using the VM on different hosts frequently, it would be a good idea to place your working directory on the flash drive.
