comment How to tell if wallpaper resolution scales up/down to another resolution?
I'm well aware of the difference between a plus and division sign. The equation is identical regardless of the operator. In your example, of which the answer is 1.7 either side of the equation, 1.7 = 1.7, well it's obvious 1.7 equals 1.7, just as 1+1=1+1 (2=2). You didn't explain why you were doing what you were doing which is why I explained further regarding scaling "well".

comment How could I lock the system up securely?
@TheLakersHighlights I apologise if I came off rude but this lady doesn't deserve any of the PC at all. If you are hired to complete a task and then told you will not be paid for that task after agreeing that you will be (as is general in a normal transaction!) then I wouldn't give her any of it back. Taking the hard drive out could be seen as damaging or worst case scenario, theft. You are well within your rights to refuse the return of the machine until your service has been paid for.

Are you serious? You want to stop a person taking advantage of repairs by locking down the software when that person could just remove the software? If the client hasn't paid, don't give them the repairs!

comment Hardware compatibility
@Canha 1GB should be fine for a debian server, 2GB would be more beneficial but not necessary if it's going to be something like a file server. Though RAM is so cheap it's not really an issue I guess. Sounds good to me.

comment Buttons vanishing from Visual Basic Toolbar
OK, I meant no offence by asking, but some unscrupulous folk on here do try the "get me free software" approach :) I honestly have never heard of any software losing built-in menu items in over 16 years, I wouldn't have a clue where to start other than a complete re-install of the specific software. Please keep us updated as to the progress!

@Canha depending on what you mean "almost as a server" and what OS you want to run on it; you may want to increase the RAM.

comment Buttons vanishing from Visual Basic Toolbar
Is it a legal copy? I have NEVER heard of buttons randomly disappearing from ANY software, let alone software that requires activation/key codes. I could understand loaded module buttons disappearing if the module is no longer loaded, but not a 'hard coded' option such as "Customize". Have you tried a complete re-install of VB?

I should read before posting, clearly. Didn't see the "works on other folders but not sys32"

comment Synergy config dual monitors separately
That doesn't particularly matter, it's only so if you mouse off the left side of the screen, it switches to the left desktop and vice versa. My config has both of my other screens (seperate PCs) set to the right while I have one physically on the left, it just means I mouse the top right and bottom right to reach different PCs.

comment D-Link DNS-323 NAS Drive - Can't Get Working After BT Install
I'm assuming it has a web interface and you can't connect by typing 192.168.0.100 in your browser? If you're struggling to connect to it at all plug your old router back in and put your PC ethernet into that, let it set up DHCP as normal (don't bother with internet) and see if you can connect to it, change the IP, remove old router and connect back up to the new one.

comment How to run both a Synergy Client and a Synergy Server on the same machine?
I've had a quick look at that error; is it happening on "ctrl-alt-del"? If so, you need to make sure autostart is set to "when the computer starts" for this to work correctly.
