comment Messed up bash configuration on Mac OS X
I think it'd be easier to run the export command to temporarily get a working PATH, so he could fix ~/.bash_profile using his favorite text editor.

comment bash-completion only after sourcing .bash_profile
@Daniel: Thanks, I wasn't sure if the default shell had changed since 10.4. @liborw: Can you make your full ~/.bash_profile available? Editing the information from your last comment into the original post would be helpful as well.

Hmm. I'm not sure if the file is case-sensitive; does your router have a /NATLIST.TXT or /CHKLST.TXT?

comment Firefox - The URL is Not Valid and Cannot be Loaded, what url is it?
Does their software run in-browser, or as a standalone program? If it's in-browser, does it use a plugin like Flash or Silverlight, or is it just plain HTML?

My last comment was rude. Sorry, +1 for putting up with that.

Except that -i expects the input file name, and output.mpeg is clearly the output file.

comment What are the small details Windows and Linux users will trip on when using OSX for the first time?
Except for the German keyboard hint, I took a shot at changing the key combinations to their Mac usage. I can't think of an intuitive way for people to "translate" their keyboard shortcuts from system to system, though, so more clarification there would be welcome.

revised What are the small details Windows and Linux users will trip on when using OSX for the first time?
Translated PC-like commands to their Apple equivalent (except for the German keyboard hint). Removed disclaimer.

comment MacBook OS X applications crashing on startup
Keep in mind that Rember can only test memory it can allocate, and since the kernel needs to keep some memory for itself, it's doubtful that Rember was able to test all your memory. I'd suggest running the Apple Hardware Test as well - it isn't as thorough as Rember, but it might find problems in places Rember wasn't able to check. But the AHT also has its limitations: AFAIK, most memory testing programs can't test the memory used by themselves, and though I'm guessing there are ways to handle this, I don't know if either AHT or Rember implement them.

From personal experience with this router, I'd suggest double-checking that it's running the latest firmware and that the wireless mode setting is "G Mode", not "Mix Mode", if both notebooks have 802.11g-compatible wireless cards. Besides that, what torrent client are you using? What's the limit on active connections?

(Trying to) Fix display problems. I'm not so good at this.
