Is a MLC still slower and less reliable than a SLC SSD? Okay, this question is not about shopping, especially it's not about shopping for particular brands or products. I'm not asking to find a best notebook or SSD for me. I just want to know the current state of the market, as both search engines and hardware-related sites are littered with "SLC good, MLC bad" articles, which are probably outdated and not true anymore, but they're came on the top in search queries due to their age. I believe that this question is really firmly answerable, probably with a simple link to modern set of reviews of benchmarks that prove one or other option. |

I consider buying a ThinkPad T420s - am I right that the best option would be buying the one without pre-installed SSD and choosing the right SSD carefully by myself? Also, I guess I don't need Z68 SSD Caching - this laptop would be running Linux. |
