comment What's waking up my PC?
Steam wakes/prevents sleep on my computer because it hooks the auto and fails to let go of it. The only thing that works is to close Steam when I am not gaming...

@DoktoroReichard the current humidity is 85%, I would consider that "very humid"

comment Is it possible for a computer to be too cold?
in the winter the ambient temperature is cooler on the outside of the case than on the inside, thus any condensation would form on the outside of the case and not the inside, during the summer the opposite would be true.

comment Likely cause of BSODs associated with Desktop Window Manager warnings
If i had to guess i would say either ram or your hard drive. But without running diagnostics on it it is hard to say. Also you might check your motherboard for blown capacitors.

comment When connecting to computer A from computer B over a local network, when does computer A's CPU get used?
Whenever your request a resource from the "server" computer the CPU will be used... mostly accessing files I assume... what will happen is the CPU will be used long enough for your computer to temporarily store the files on your computer...this generally will not require a beastly CPU... any modern CPU should be able to handle this demand. The real bottle neck is going to be your network...you can only transfer, or stream a file as fast as your network will allow for.

comment Backing up all files and programs from a dead windows system?
You should be able to use the Windows 8 Boot disc to recover the boot partition. If you are trying to dual boot, you would recover the Window boot partition, then use Ubuntu Live disk to reinstall grub, that should then give you the option to boot either one...

comment Load/Unload Cycle of a Hard Drive
The auto park feature is in every modern hard drive these days... the reason it is there is so if your hard drive abruptly looses power the head is already parked and doesn't slam the platters, thus possibly causing damage to sectors.. although I have never been able to audibly hear the head park but that might be a result of my fans being too loud...

comment My Windows 8.1 windows key is “stuck” (not physically)
If you recently purchased said computer, and you are having heat issues already, and your keyboard is acting up, then I would be very wary of using it, and would be contacting the manufacturer. Heat is bad for computers and excess heat is certainly going to be bad in the long run. You are best to get it resolved NOW, rather then later when you really have issues, and it isn't covered by warranty...
