comment Windows 10 update Error code 80070002
Ah wait - you've forced the update - which is quite different from my situation - however, I think trying the media creation tool should be my next step.

Ok - not clean boot issue - same place - 13% done, 46% files done. Same error code 80070002-20007.

Having a go again now - and failing that - this may then be useful: support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/902093

Perhaps some driver or service that windows is trying to update isn't a base component, is demanded by the update, but not included in the update. Would there be more detail in event viewer or a log for it?

I tried following these steps - windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/… - which didn't help me either. I am going to now attempt a clean boot tomorrow - as 3 attempts today is quite enough for now.

Mine seems to get as far as rebooting into the installer, and around 13% done, 46% of the way into copying files, restarts and the goes into "restoring your previous OS". This is with Windows 8.1 on a system with around 160Gb free space. The FAQ suggests only 8Gb free space is needed.

comment Powershell font too small on Windows 8.1 - how to adjust?
This worked for me - as long as it is done in a console started as administrator. Thanks!

comment TeamViewer keyboard input not working
If you have a local laptop or client, can you log in, open up a text editor and see what typing remotely then gets you?

@nbolton Any chance of an actual fix instead of this workaround?

comment Synergy 1.4.14 fails with “Protocol error”
Odd - I can only make it work with no password. Even a very simple password set at both ends fails.

comment How can I compare the content of files in 2 different directories
Kumar, Meld is awesome on Linux. You should add this as an answer - although it requires Fink/Brew/macports to get it.

comment Can you find out the IP SSH-ing your computer?
Handy when using C9.io or other services to get to EC2, and then re-restricting the network traffic rules to that IP.

comment Windows Server 2003 hangs when I plug in any external drive. How can I prevent this?
I am seeing the same with a thumb drive. I have MSE disabled (it was enabled). I see an EventID 51 "Erorr detected on device \Device\Harddisk1" when it happens. In theory - this is an existing drive with an assigned letter. The thumb drive sometimes works with the server, but once in this state - stays in it for a while.

comment Telnet to windows host backspace key wrong
I meant terminal settings for the putty client to get normal behaviour from the default windows telnet server (normal meaning that backspace, cursor keys etc work by moving cursors and deleting characters visibly, and not deleting the prompt).

Hmm - no better - are there recommended settings for a windows host in putty?

Hmm - there is a putty build for linux. I'll try that and see if it works for this...

Unhelpful. This isn't some exotic weird client. This is one that is standard.

comment Web browser is playing the video clips very quickly
This can actually depend on the video, as some cannot be re-encoded for HTML 5 and will be using flash (I think this is more a licensing than tech problem). Right clicking the video widget should tell you what is being used.

comment Should Windows 7 home premium have chgport?
Hmm - seems like I may genuinely be missing it - although this makes no sense for a fresh install. Going to look around.
