comment How to load a module in gentoo?
This is not a question related to programming. Better to post on unix.stackexchange.com.

comment How to display a single terminal in two columns?
Nice idea. I don't know of any that does that currently. But in most a simple key combo (Shift-pgup) will quickly show the scrollback buffer.

comment How can I browse work machines (i.e. behind a firewall) from home?
I think if you "tell firefox" about a proxy it is expecting an HTTP proxy server. I don't think you have that. You probably want an SSH tunnel, and you might have to add a static route to home.

comment Linux doesn't boot on my Windows 7 laptop, even if successfully installed
interesting read: community.linuxmint.com/hardware/view/8273 some never nvidia chips are not well supported, esp. if you have the dual mode kind. Often adjusting BIOS settings can get it to work.

comment How can I automate commands that I run every day on Linux?
*nix is all about automation like this. ;) So sure, of course it's possible. A simple shell script is a start.

comment how to use crontab with &
Script failures from cron are often due to it having a clean environment that may be missing some environment variables that a program expects. You have to add them back in.

comment CL VIM: How to get 256 color support in Fedora 17 terminal?
The TERM environment variable is only informative. It tells Apps what terminal you are currently using. It doesn't change the behaviour of the terminal. The terminal sets it to what it should be. You don't usually change it. Just make sure you are using a terminal with 256 color support first.

@gh403 But I have tried that and I know it runs on Linux. I once had 100 TRS-80s running on my one Linux box. :-o
