comment How to disable permission to read 'System Fonts' and 'Browser Plugin Details' in Chrome and Firefox
Thank you so much! This works on my PC (Windows XP). Panopiclick still recognises me as a unique visitor, though. through my list of plug-ins...

comment Windows 7 with low color depth?
Good suggestion. In XP, there is also the option to pick from three "high-contrast" colour schemes from within the "Appearance" tab. Does Windows 7 have a similar option somewhere?

There is Sound Lock, but unfortunately it doesn't work on XP (Vista/7 only, I think). freewaregenius.com/control-your-pcs-loudness-with-sound-lock

comment Firefox: Any way to allow javascript to disable or replace the context menu only to specific domains?
I have found a way, through a Greasemonkey script! See here: superuser.com/questions/366016/…

comment Creating Hotkeys in Firefox for bookmarks (bookmarklets)
The only think I can think of is making a complicated menu structure for all my bookmarklets and using Inputbox in AHK to convert "qr" into the right sequence of keys to navigate the menus...but that would be a lot of work.

comment Creating Hotkeys in Firefox for bookmarks (bookmarklets)
This is a great idea. I might use this for my mouse gestures. However, oftentimes I would like to use an easier-to-remember keyword to execute a certain bookmarklet, like "qr" for my QR-code bookmarklet. I used to do that by typing it into the address bar, but Firefox made that impossible, and I can't restore that function (tried every about:config and Noscript tip I could find). Do you happen to have any idea how I could make that work?

Very good question! I would like to know this too. Your link doesn't seem to work.

But Kenny, this is not site-specific. @Ultra: Noscript is site-specific, but it doesn't allow you to allow all Javascript except context-menu changes, which is what we're looking for.

@gordon613: Have you tried downloading the certificates as mentioned in the similar question? Did it help?

comment Ctrl + 1 and Ctrl + 2 key combinations don't work
@musicreak: Hmm so it isn't specific software, and it isn't the keyboard itself that's broken. The only think I can think of is some fault in your Windows installation? But I can imagine you wouldn't want to reinstall Windows...

comment AutoHotKey Quit Working!
+1. // Virus scanners do often mark compiled AHK scripts (compiled as independed .exe files) as viruses due to the encoding techniques AHK uses for this. But that's probably not the case here. // Another thing to check would be whether the .ahk files are present in the Programs/Startup folder in the start menu. // And have you tried right-clicking the .ahk file, and selecting "run as administrator"? (Does not apply to XP.)

comment How do you remap keys to symbols on windows vista?
Alt is !, Win is #, Control is ^. You can do "hold a down while pressing b" like this: a & b::c

@Not a Name: Shift is done by the plus sign (it's all in the AHK help file, which is great and easy to read): +f::F

@Synetechinc.: And I have already suggested that he try a (different) mouse.

comment Keyboard key events repeating all the time (endlessly)
@Synetechinc.: It could be that the OP is using some AHK script that sends mouse clicks to an invisible or non-existing control (these would be visible in a log). There are various ways in which it might not be obstructive (I could easily write a script that does that); I was trying to establish whether he experienced mouse clicks, or some other weird behaviour. Moreover, since I do not know how he is registering these key presses, nor why he even added the AHK tag, the OS might be registering something that isn't a mouse click at all. In short, we need more info.
