Computers have always been a big part of my life. First played with one when I was 4 and have always been fascinated by them ever since. I built and configured my first computer only a few years later. BS in Computer Engineering at UCSD (University of California San Diego) and always trying to find ways to keep busy. I act as computer consultant for family and friends and "network administrator" at home.

comment Is it possible to have both Wired and wifi connections to the Internet at the same time
Wow, I never noticed that menu before. I wonder what other menus have gone unnoticed now that they're hidden by default. I like the menu-less windows and have grown accustomed to it.

comment Is there a way to create synchronization profiles for Google Chrome?
It's unfortunate that you can't use a single account to do this... I have no need to create and use a google account just for work or for travel (or other use cases outside of home).

comment Remove auto-complete field entries in Google Chrome
It appears as of v28 (possibly sooner), delete alone will not remove entries anymore, you must use shift+delete everywhere now.

comment Changing the default power button action to Disconnect in a remote desktop session
@James: This isn't too much of a concern at the moment but IIRC, the main motivation for this was consistency. When finished with a remote desktop session, most of the time I want to just disconnect, others I needed to completely log off and I occasionally need to reboot. To be able to do all that, the start menu allowed me to do all. XP had a disconnect button along with log off so it was perfect then. That plus running VMware that has a similar interface, I have scripted shutdowns to do much more than that. I'd rather not have to worry about which program I'm using when I just want to quit.

comment How to stop jucheck from running? Java won't remember “Check for Updates Automatically” setting
Also note that if you have both the 32-bit and 64-bit runtimes installed, you have to run the 32-bit control panel. If not, the update tab will not be shown. I don't know what happens if you only have the 64-bit runtime, I'd assume the update tab will be there.

comment how do I determine how much VRAM is in the system?
I don't know how the Optimus actually works or how it affects the readings but it could be possible that the card could be using system memory as well or something along those lines. Do all the other memory readings read similarly?
