I like working on computers. I find it hard to say what exactly it is I like doing... One week I may find my self programming, another week modding a game, a week here working on hardware and networking, a week there working on my server...

comment What tool can I use to create and deploy Windows 7 images?
I've been trying to get into deploying Windows in our workplace more efficiently - I think your answer gave me a very good intro into what exactly MDT is, since I kept seeing the acronym but didn't really know what people were referring to. Thanks!

comment Stuck at “Starting windows..” when switching to AHCI mode
This is also an issue for me... Asus motherboard, Intel storage controller. Windows has issues booting when AHCI is selected.

Update Notifier only appears to check for software and not drivers...

comment Incredibly slow computer but without obvious cause
I think actually running the checkdisk might have fixed this problem for me. My laptop was slowing to a crawl even though there wasn't an indication of hard drive I/O activity. I ran the check disk, and it seems like I no longer slow down anymore. I think I found the log under the Wininit category rather than the Winlogon category, though.

Yeah, I'll try sending them an email. Versions of windows... For vista, I believe I had Ultimate SP2 if that's what you mean by version, and I currently have Windows 7 Professional SP1. Both were/are 64 bit.

I'm afraid none of those ring a bell...

Uh oh... This was my first reinstallation where I didn't make an image of the entire drive prior to reinstalling, and I selectively wrote down programs that I thought I would want to reinstall again... Looks like I missed one! Now I just have to remember what...

That would make sense, although I already have the latest BIOS.

I gave Asus's utilities a try, no luck (posted results in answer below).

Even though this is a desktop and not a laptop, I think you may be right, it is beginning to look like some missing software. I've tried installing Asus's utilities, but even still, the clock doesn't exceed stock speeds any more.

I wonder if that may have been it, too. I may have installed some of Asus's utilities, I'll go and get them again to see if they may have been it.

With regards to core temps, I don't feel that they're an issue, the temps (with both cores maxed out) range from 55 to 50 degrees Celsius. I think temperatures may have exceeded 60 degrees when the processor's frequency was being changed dynamically. I believe all memory (AI Tweaker tab in the BIOS) settings are set to Auto. VCore voltage is current 1.3V, which I also don't think has changed. I tried installing some Intel chipset drivers from Asus in case that was it, but there was no apparent change after a reboot. I double checked my power settings, everything seems to be at max performance.
