comment Data recovery; nearly 1 tb of movies on a WD 3.5 tb personal cloud drive disappears with scanty traces
These devices appear to ship with 0TB configurations, so presumably the disk removal is easy. I see people claim that they are configured by default as RAID 1 which is MIRROR. This means that each disk is/should be an exact copy. If you left it Raid 1 and did not delete files intentionally, one of the drives may have all your stuff on it.

"How can I tell if someone is emitting the same ssid?" Turn off your router's wireless transmitter and then immediately begin scanning for transmitting SSIDs

Mentions a dell, but the drivers are likely synaptec drivers rather than dell-specific: askubuntu.com/questions/398113/…

comment Changed CPU and system doesn't boot. Put back old CPU, it doesn't boot either
You might need to clear the CMOS (unplug power, remove battery, wait 1 minute)

gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2409#ov states "only supports 800 front side bus" the new processor is 1066 FSB (ark.intel.com/products/27251/…)

Core2Duo and P4 3Ghz both came in a LGA 775 socket configuration: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_775

comment Why do I get HEX2BIN() error for long (but valid) strings?
you say "long [...] strings" in your title. "200" is not long by most people's estimation. Are these the exact hex numbers that give you the error? #num! will get thrown if the "places" integer parameter specifies a size too small to fit the binary conversion.

comment Windows 7 - Additional RAM installed, but usable amount did not increase?
The 3gb of hardware-reserved memory is a problem. I recal something about "mscconfig" boot option , ensure that "maximum memory" is unchecked. Also, this might indicate that you have a bad memory slot. Try booting with a single dimm in a single slot, and move the dimm between boot(s) to see if you can identify a slot that doesn't work. Try this with each stick of ram.

comment Copying files that match one pattern but not another
No more or less messy than yours, and both have a hack for the case of no exclusions. If it works, it works. One minor plus for my example is the exclusion list can be examined afterwards. (obviously, the params can be changed to ENV and the call can be eliminated)

comment Why would an IP address fail, but the server (hardware and web server) and file system work?
Minor clarification: you say "another host name" and also "load my dedicated ip address". So your working test-case is via name (dns) but your own downed server is via IP?

comment Force Windows 7 to unload items from memory (not Superfetch)
Be aware that "out of memory" errors might be triggered by low virtual address space (i.e. memory maps for device and RAM). Video cards with a lot of VRAM can require a big chunk of this system-reserved block. This is different than the sorts of RAM usage you are hoping to avoid.

comment Win 7 - cannot login if wifi is turned on
Wild stab in the dark, but it is plausible that the wifi software (if not just the straight MS off the disk drivers) is using profiles with a per-user scheme and since you aren't logged in completely, it hangs because it doesn't have permissions.

comment Why does my account keeps getting locked? What does the log Event 4648 means?
I suspect it is an e.g. HP or Brother driver/service attempting to do {magic} like upsell ink or connect to so-called cloud printing etc.
