Is this done at the server or the client machine? I have many clients...

@techie007 In reference to your question, I am using GPO Management Editor > User Configuration > Preferences > Drive Maps

Thanks nicole, but managed to solve it using another method so didn't get a chance to use your software.

Nope not working. I used 8.3 names for the whole file path including the current directory at the command prompt.

They are not in the NAS... not sure why. But one thing is for sure, the file cannot be copied to anywhere as it will generate the "file not found" error. The file might be a new file added after the mass copy-from-NAS.

@DaveRook PMT is not the cell name, that box there is a dropdown listing the recently used functions.

@DaveRook you can see from third screenshot from the top that editing the formula cell also highlights the G211 cell right above it. So, yea. its the correct worksheet, worksheet B. I mean, if you look at the evaluate formula dialogs, it says 0="APPLE" is TRUE! And yes, G211 when Evaluate, shows just a 0.

@DaveRook No data validation or formatting, but i still click on "clear" just for good measures. Problem does not go away.

@Indrek any string, e.g. "any string" will evaluate to true. False otherwise, unless of course you put a number 0.

It happens in this workbook and all copies of it. I started a new workbook and cannot get the same behavior. There must be a setting I don't know. G211 is a manual 0, in fact, if i clear G211 (make it empty without any formatting), G212 still show 1.

@Matteo the content of G211 is NOT a formula. It is a 0 manually entered. The desired return value in G212 should be 0.

Cell A2 (G212) will show 1 when A1 (G211) is 0 or case-insensitive Apple e.g. aPpLe, ApPlE etc.

I'll try, but if the GPO for drives doesn't work, I doubt the logon scripts will work. Also the other issue is that some machines are laptops. I don't want the network drives to disappear. Ideally, they should stay in My Computer and when the user connects to VPN, the drive is accessible again.

For the folks I have here, anything beyond their comprehension is a hack. To them, it must work if I say it should. period. Anything else is my fault. So if they see the drives there showing the disconnected icon, they will believe is a Windows feature. If I tell them "please double click the network.bat if you don't see your drives" they will think is my fault that I am not setting up properly for them, causing them to have one more step to work after logging in.
