comment How to omit characters at the beginning of a file name while renaming it in DOS?
By "DOS" you mean the command line (cmd.exe) in Microsoft Windows? (MS-DOS - Microsoft Disk Operating System is an old, simple operating system which is not in general use for about 20 years.)

Please include the command(s) you tried to run and the error message(s). As such the question with the answer(s) would be much more useful for other people.

comment Problem with $RANDOM in crontab
$RANDOM is not part of some "full" environment. It has nothing to do with environment variables set at a process start. It is a special variable created "on the fly" in bash. Its new value is always generated whenever the variable is read. --- cron by default uses /bin/sh so on systems where /bin/sh is not linked to bash $RANDOM will not work by default.

I use Alt + F7, Enter. You need to press Enter or Esc to end the "move the window" function.

comment Identify an unknown IP in our network
From the three answers this is the best one of what can be done directly from any computer on the L2 segment. Additionally I would run a really :) advanced scan to reveal additional information about the computers - using for example nmap: nmap -A 10.0.0.131 or nmap -A 10.0.0.0/24. This way you can discover for example the OS, computer name, running services, their versions etc. --- This could be really helpful if you do not find two IP addresses with the same MAC.

comment mount on busybox: invalid argument when trying to mount smb share
Slash / is not a special character for shell. It does not need to be escaped. (Space is a special character.)

comment CheckPoint Firewall Comand Line Login fwpolicy.exe
What would you like to achieve? SmartDashboard is an interactive tool anyway so what is the reason for non-interactive login? ------ I know that you can specify: management server address, user name and policy name but I am almost sure that you cannot perform the authentication from the command line. ------ Debugging options are in the CLI Reference Guide the other options are not described in the public documentation.

comment How to troubleshoot “Secure Connection Failed” in Firefox appearing since the version 38?
@jww: Thank you for troubleshooting the certificate chain! I still have to read your answer in detail. Anyway it seems improbable that the certificate chain could be the cause because different URLs on the same server (same FQDN) work without problems. --- It is possible that it was a temporary problem on the Check Point's servers. See my previous comment. --- Anyway, I still think that in Firefox it is pretty difficult to find out a cause of a failed connection.

comment How to troubleshoot “Secure Connection Failed” in Firefox appearing since the version 38?
@DanielB: "Totally unrelated to SSL..." Without considering the relations between TCP and SSL you are probably right. By the message it is probably meant that the server sent TCP reset to the Firefox but for me the error message is not completely clear / explicit. --- When considering the relations the server could have sent the TCP reset as a reaction to unwanted SSL handshake. --- Anyway later I was able to send the form with different data from Firefox. I will try to test it with the same data... It is possible that the problem was a temporary glitch on the Check Point servers...

comment How to troubleshoot “Secure Connection Failed” in Firefox appearing since the version 38?
@RogUE: Without a connection the behaviour is different (as expected): 1. waiting for a timeout (The described problem is without a timeout.) 2. "Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at usercenter.checkpoint.com."... I did not get the new "Report this error "... part in this case.
