comment How to copy web page text and images to MS Word
2 problems with that. There are a few dozen pages of text. The text would not be searchable.

comment Win 7 Reinstallation DVD?
If it doesn't install properly, you should be able to return it as defective. The wording on the label is very clear.

comment What is the difference between 1080p, 1080P and 1080i?
I like this answer, but it is still unclear to me whether a progressive frame is "scanned" or "captured". That is, do all of the pixels of a frame have the exact same timestamp, or is the timestamp of the first pixel about 1/60th of a second older than the last pixel of a given frame?

comment How do I set the parental rating on a video?
Thanks for the list of software. These appear to keep the information in their own database. I was hoping to attach it to the file itself (in the NTFS database?) so that several computers can access it without installing said software on all my computers and finding a way to link that database to the software.

Why would MS allow editing of properties on some file types (.wmv) but not others (.mpg, .avi)? The prop is already there, why disable edit?

@JesseCarter: This is just for my own cataloging so that when I select a movie, I can make sure the rating is appropriate for my audience.

Can you suggest products with this capability?

I should clarify, the field on the details tab is empty and read-only. I can't change it. Perhaps there is a setting elsewhere that changes the field to read/write.

The question is for "parental rating", not "star rating".

@Rhys: Clicking on the rating field where I would expect an edit box simply highlights the row. There is no edit box, no (right click) context menu, nothing. Perhaps there is a registry key to enable editing? An internet search did not uncover any solution, only several others with questions just like mine.

comment Can I charge USB devices from a powered hub that isn't connected to a PC?
This item is not yet UL approved (apparently approval is being sought). I don't know if building codes allow this or not. Seems like I remember code not allowing high voltage (110V) to be mixed with low voltage in the same electrical box. Bottom line, your homeowners insurance may be affected by this device.

I should try Firefox - I already have it installed. I also tried pasting into Openoffice Writer. It has the same problem.

My setting was already at 'Automatically', and copy/paste works from this web page, but not from the pages that have been causing problems.

comment Why does my new notebook computer have a 1394a port instead of 1394b?
I agree with your answers. As far as your 2nd paragraph, I generally agree, but the 1394b spec has been out 7 years (That's about 100 computer years), so I was pretty sure it had to be a 'b' port. Never-the-less, I don't anticipate 1394 usage, but I'm still miffed.

comment What is the difference between size and size on disk?
Allow me to add to your answer. The allocation unit (bucket) size is chosen based on the size of the disk. If you're using a bucket to empty a bathtub, you would choose a smallish bucket. If you're emptying a swimming pool, you'll use a bigger bucket.

comment JPEG vs PNG vs BMP vs GIF
jpg allows for different levels of compression. A more highly compressed file will suffer a greater loss in quality. It is up to you to decide how much quality you want vs how big the file is. (You can't regain quality once it is lost.)

From your description, is sounds like the (memory?) stick may be a 1.1 device.

A luser would never force it. They'd just get a bigger hammer.
