@MahmoudAl-Qudsi Technically, yes, you are correct. However, you might need to reconsider your soft skills. On a site like SuperUser (or in any context in Meatspace), cultural context appears to have shifted quite some time ago. If someone asks for a "GUI Tool" in the 21st century, ncurses, while technically correct, is likely not a successful answer. I've removed my downvote (as if arbitrary numbers mean anything in real life). =)

@MahmoudAl-Qudsi Yes, htop can kill a process. I got confused with top - however, concerning the word GUI - you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

-1 for pointless soapboxing. +1 for offering a different option. -1 for that option not doing what the OP wanted (integrated ablity to kill processes)

Knowing that you changed from IDE to RAID intrigues me. I'm now suspicious that perhaps Windows is not properly interfacing with the ATAPI CD-Drive. Switching from IDE to RAID/AHCI could have caused issues with the Windows drivers for ATAPI.

I doubt that would make a difference, however changing to AHCI will break your RAID set, so don't do that unless you're prepared for data loss. It will also require some changes to Windows. Search around for RAID-to-AHCI information such as: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/…

@sidran32 In my understanding, no, those things aren't necessarily OS agnostic. The chipsets still need to be interacted with by the OS, so the OS is still a variable factor. Perhaps Windows needs the hardware layer to have updated firmware for it to more properly interact with it. The Linux OS you tried may have been capable of interfacing with the chipset in its current state as opposed to Windows.
