comment Is there a binary-safe “triple less than” <<< operator in bash?
First link no longer exists. Hence the importance of including as much information in the answer as possible, even if it appears too verbose at first, because the information linked to does not stay around forever.

comment Mix-and-match SATA in RAID
@JourneymanGeek It depends on the capabilities of the software RAID implementation. Difference in size, cache, speed, etc. will cause unexpected problems if whatever is controlling the RAID reaches unexpected limits be they an end of a platter, a response time for writing or reading, a difference in timeouts, and more. Some implementations won't even create the volume in the first place if there are certain mismatches between drives. TL;DR Your mileage may vary. (But it's a bad idea unless you hate your data, time, and life)

E.g. dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb and that gets every partition and even the MBR. Everything from stem to stern.

dd can copy an entire device, not just a partition.

comment Word 2010 - Can't set default style and normal.dotm changes do not appear to “stick”
I don't believe that PDF Complete was installed on this PC, however it's nice to know that the possibility of that conflict exists.

comment How to open a port via password in linux server?
Sad to say, you're unaware of how TCP/IP works. What you are asking for is impossible without writing your own custom stack.

@umanga Let me clarify. The iPhone has 2.4Ghz N, not 5Ghz N.

@umanga Nope. Only iPads support N as of this date.

comment Why is my firewall preventing me from accessing some websites
@nosx Next up, it's time to flail! Start unchecking boxes one at a time. The other options don't appear to have any kind of relation to a meta refresh, but... Belkins are weird.

comment How can I set up a wired printer on different operating systems without a print server?
@MacGyver Few things: 1) Canon may make some Linux drivers, but they're not known for broad support. 2) A screenshot in an obscure tutorial that isn't even about Canon printers on Linux does not stellar support imply. The S330 is over a decade old and you can't even find Windows drivers on Canon's site for that model much less Linux ones. Perhaps it's some sketchy driver from OpenPrinting. My evidence of Canon's terrible Linux support still stands unchallenged.

comment How can I set up a wired printer on different operating systems without a print server?
@MacGyver A print server isn't going to prevent the need for Linux drivers. It just puts the printer on the network using a dedicated, often very inexpensive appliance without the need for a traditional "server."

@MacGyver I'm partial to Brother. Solid products, good Linux support.

@MacGyver Worst case scenario. Canon has terrible support for Linux - casts contemptuous glance at his Canon MFP

Your question is better suited for SuperUser. If four other people (or one mod) agrees with me, it will be moved there for you. No need to do anything.

This ended up being the culprit. I didn't narrow down the ultimate cause though.

This was apparently not the problem. It was a user profile issue.
