comment Computer is broadcasting on port 139 at startup - Virus?
@marcusw: Of course I know what the port is. However, many viruses have been known to proliferate through windows file sharing, which is why it caused alarm, one could see it as the virus trying to spread itself to other computers. Also, just because windows file sharing is bound to port 139, that doesn't mean it can't transmit to other devices on that port (it doesn't use 139 as the source port).

comment How to recover unknown password in Windows XP?
Just thought it should be added that this is not a free service: "Once your passwords have been decrypted, you then have the option to pay for the service and your passwords will be revealed instantly"

comment How to recover unknown password in Windows XP?
It really doesn't make sense to me why, if his father was deceased, why it would be a problem to reset his password.

comment Can't connect iPhone to my wireless router @home
Just wanted to agree... we used to have a WEP access point... and visitors with Macs would always have problems connecting. Try disabling WEP (temporarily.. just to see if it solves your problem) and/or upgrading to WPA/WPA2.

comment Screensaver not kicking in
Found it in the microsoft knowledgebase. Just in case somebody has this issue in the future the article is support.microsoft.com/kb/911895 . Basically the microsoft wireless mouse was constantly sending signal strength info back to the computer and the computer was considering this as user activity. Installing Microsoft's Intellipoint software for the mouse resolved the issue.
