comment Can you make one file reference another?
Is there any reason you can't keep the module separate and import it into the other projects as needed?

comment Insert a line of text before lines matching a regex in vim
Thanks! I'm a little confused because I thought that \n was the linux newline character and \r\n was for windows. Also, what does it mean to "refer to the match with &?

The simplest way to accomplish item 3 would be having your script extract the subdirectory your page is in plus the images and CSS directories. That should extract most of the things included in any given page while cutting down on the unnecessary files extracted. (Upvoted to counter the downvote, btw)

comment Starting gedit from terminal produce error messages
Does gedit launch anyway? If so, I wouldn't worry. It's probably something in gtk not specific to gedit.

I tried and cannot get a text console (mentioned in my question). Whne you say "You should be able to get a a bash prompt" do you mean root without networking in recovery mode, because that's the only prompt i can get?

I had KDE and MATE installed. I accidentally removed all of KDE including KDM. I think it must have gotten rid of gdm3 as well

It's version 10. It's still in use, much to the dismay of technically minded friends of the ever shrinking user base.

Then google lightweight linux distros. You can probably find many under 500 MB. It will be much easier for you to find a linux distro that does what you want (and will be around when you want something else) than to find a piece of software that does exactly what you want.
