comment svchost.exe process takes 5GB of RAM, after some heavy browsing. What to do?
It seems that it's actually from those 3 emule.exe instances. After closing them, the svchost.exe process went down from 5gb, to less than 200mb. Why? This never happened on my main PC, even though I had 3 instances of emule.exe running.

It's steady, until I restart the PC. Sometimes it goes even higher.

I'm 90% there, thanks to the idea you gave me. 1) install OS on C. 2) While OS Running, create an X: partition, install OS DVD and install it on X:. 3) using a partition software, delete C:, and move X: to the position of C:. 4) Fix BOOT/MBR/BCD. Currently, I'm at this step, trying to recreate the BOOTMGR manually, since it resided on C: which was deleted.

I want to migrate some software on the C partition(from another PC) and I want to separate it from the OS. I cannot migrate it to a different partition without hassle(let's say D) and I also want to maintain backwards compatibility, in case I want to migrate everything back. I want the separation for easy data wiping on the C:, without Windows reinstall, and for easier backup of the whole partition instead of specific folders.

I'll check into that. Can I change the letter after the installation?

comment Windows 7, how to configure/allow remote cmd access to specific PC/IP address from the local network?
pstlist \\Workstation -u MyUser OR tasklist /s Workstation /u MyUser OR tasklist /s <IP> /u MyUser and I always received Access is denied. RR is Remote Registry.

I've tested the following: Firewall on target PC off, RPC and RR services on. Remote settings->"Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop". I have not specified a certain user here. I have not fiddled with Workgroups. The PCs are in the same network, behind a router. The ping is working between the PCs. Result: Access is denied.
