comment Windows get moved to the primary monitor after waking from standby with mixed DisplayPort and DVI-D dual-monitor setup
I was suggesting HDMI on the 3008WFP. I've noticed my setups have ordered and possibly acknowledged ports in this order: DP>HDMI>DVI>VGA.

Can the 680 do 2160p @ 60 Hz over HDMI? I'm thinking it might be a problem with the 30" being too slow to wake over DVI.

comment Does Windows NT before version 4 (also) have built-in dual-boot support?
How is this off topic as when Microsoft still provides these operating systems on MSDN?

comment What are some ways to disrupt BitTorrent activity in OpenWRT?
Really... closing it as too broad? The software is Open-WRT and the intention is to prevent torrent traffic. There can't be that many answers... (I was thinking Open-WRT is just a platform for the software firewalls you might run on a linux box... I might be wrong, but that was my reasoning for asking experts to chime in)

@Mokubai Oh I have had that discussion. Today I noticed uTorrent automatically launch when one logged into his computer. I think he meant his promise...yet there I was pirating by association again. I'd just like to add some additional safety measures... because while a promise is nice, I'd just feel better about things in general.

The option you want might be hidden if 1920 x 1080 is the display's native resolution. See if you get different options for a lower resoltion that you want to play in.

Cool, I didn't know about the Fraunhofer encoder. I'm guessing the test were done at super-low bitrates that I'll never use, but good info!

Last shot in the dark: When you get home try disabling the Steam in-game overlay Success rate: 100%; Sample size: 1. (BTW: I think some games require doing this in Steam and in the game's settings.)

Ah, okay, never mind. 60 fps isn't really acceptable though... you should be allowed to get those extra frames even if you don't see them. (You'll have an advantage over people with lower framerates)

I understand V-Sync is not desirable for a shooter, but try reducing fps_max. You didn't post GPU temps while playing, but it's possible that the card hits the ceiling doing 290 fps and has to throttle back for just a second.

comment How can Windows dump the complete RAM in the hibernation file so fast?
@iser2285470 Not only is it compressed, but decompression is further accelerated by using additional CPU cores (can't tell if compression takes advantage of multiple cores). There's more information about it, the Session 0 state, and even a quote of as little as 10-15% of RAM being preserved in a typical case, on this Building Windows 8: Delivering fast boot times in Windows 8 post from 2011.

What's your goal, keeping performance high, longevity? What's modern (I'm not sure Kingston has a modern one of these)? Maybe mention the drive or the controller (i.e., SF-2281). About how much data will get written a day?
