@IgnacioVazquez-Abrams: Thanks, fixed my answer. Anything else?

comment What would happen if the temperature of my computer kept rising?
@IgnacioVazquez-Abrams: That's true for the (tiny) transistors but what about the (long) wires which connect them?

comment How to move my physical debian server to VirtualBox?
+1 Excellent question. Migrating real to virtual hardware is a pretty standard procedure where some tooling could go a long way. I mean the tool could analyze the hard disk (identify the boot manager in the MBR, locate the partitions in /etc/fstab). Still I also haven't seen anything which can do that.

comment Why does it take so long for Eclipse to connect to a JUnitRunner process when IPv6 is enabled?
Yes, ping6 ::1 works.

I checked with ip6tables: There are no rules and all three chains have the policy "ACCEPT"

Ah! I completely missed the right side. Why isn't it showing "::1:51019 ::1:48469"?

:-/ The netstat line above says Eclipse isn't trying to use loopback at all.

comment on linux, what is DATA in top command output for java application?
I'm not aware of a tool that can do further analysis but I'm not an expert in the area. I suggest you ask a new, more specific question like "My app has 128MB heap but uses 1.6GB of real RAM. How can I find out where the 1.4GB go to?"

Does the acceleration checkmark have an effect immediately or do I have to close the dialog or restart the browser?

comment Which file-system is good for movable disk between many different OSs?
Don't get your hopes up. Linux can mount almost anything under the sun, so there is no need for a special FS for that. Mac and Windows users don't need UNIX attributes, so the companies couldn't care less. And the trend is towards cloud FS - in a few years, no one will use thumb drives anymore.

comment Fastest external drive for virtual machines?
@Steve314: True, it's a fast evolving technology and always buying cheapest probably doesn't improve things. That said, I'm running on SSDs for more than two years now and the biggest issue so far is that my PC's BIOS sometimes doesn't detect the drive at boot time.

comment What makes a computer slow?
@Joe Phillips: In some situations, turning paging off can make the computer slower - Windows pages early, so stuff that you don't need gets paged out and your apps have more free RAM. The same is true for setting the page file to a fixed size - this can confuse Windows when it tries to optimize the paging settings.

comment Which Linux-based firewall supports IPv6?
+1 The only thing from accepting this entry is that it's all for the command line. While I'm a CLI guy myself, I rarely touch the firewall (about once a year). In this case, the effort to dig up the documentation again every time is too much - for these rare occasions, I really need a web interface.

comment Which Linux-based firewall supports IPv6?
My problem is mostly that I know very little about BSD so I'm worried how long it will take me to get my tasks done when similar Linux versions (say openSUSE and Ubuntu) are already so different...

+1 Maybe it's really time switch from Linux to FreeBSD...
