Not so random, actually. It has a scoring mechanism.

This is a site for programming questions. And to answer your question, unless you have a backup, that file is gone.

There was no rep deduction from me. And since it's been migrated to another site, any votes on SO are no longer valid.

comment Installing Linux
2 things: (1) this is a programming Q&A site, this is off-topic. (2) Linux really is just a kernel. There are dozens of OSs that use this kernel, like Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Rehat, Suse, Gentoo, etc.

Either your floppy is damaged or your floppy drive is bad. It's a hardware problem either way.

comment Is there a high-performance local area “file sharing” protocol?
Two things: (1) this isn't a programming question, and (2) you have competing requirements. Security is always at odds with performance. You want fast, use NFS.

comment Is there an application like screen but for GUI applications?
I believe "switching" actually refers to "backgrounding" -- allowing the application to run independent of the X server.

@paxdiablo: no, you're confusing fancy with demented (ok, yes I'm guilty of using abominations like that, but I'm demented so it's ok).

FYI mkfs -t vfat will call mkfs.vfat. Makes no difference, really.

comment How to format a pen drive in linux
Well first of all linux uses the forward slash / and not the backward slash. Secondly, "it doesn't work" isn't good enough. Please say precisely how it's failing (errors given, etc). Third (and most importantly) this is the wrong site for this question. This site is for programming questions.

comment How to hibernate seamless windows XP mode under windows 7?
Hi Andre, welcome to Stack Overflow. You seem to be asking a lot of questions about microsoft virtual PC, which are really more appropriate for a site like SuperUser. This site is for programming questions. If these questions are migrated, don't be alarmed.

A quick look here doesn't show that sequence. Try running the file command on your file to see what it thinks (assuming you're on Linux).
