comment How to delete directories with path/names too long for normal delete
If you are looking for a command-line tool, you could use a small tool I've published on GitHub (github.com/epsitec/Tools-RecursiveDelete).

And if you do not want to use Java, you could use this tool I wrote using .NET (github.com/epsitec/Tools-RecursiveDelete).

I've written a tiny tool that does just that and put it up to GitHub. github.com/epsitec/Tools-RecursiveDelete

comment How do I restore my Surface 3 after installing Windows 10 Tech Preview
Ah, yes: disk applies to magnetic disk drives whereas disc would be used for optical ones (compact disc). See also this article explaining the difference between disk and disc: support.apple.com/en-us/HT201697

Also have a look at the mdadm cheat sheet (ducea.com/2009/03/08/mdadm-cheat-sheet).

comment Wireless connection hangs after wakeup
No, just the wifi connection problems. And a colleague with a Surface PRO 3 has the same issues as I have. I simply disabled Hyper-V and am happy now.

comment Wireless connection hangs after wakeup
What would be of interest now, is how can we get Hyper-V work with the WLAN connection on the Surface PRO 3. I have been consistently experiencing wifi connection issues on the tablet where it cannot get an IP address assigned through DHCP. And this makes any useful work impossible, as no matter how often I tried to deconnect and reconnect manually, turning off and on again, etc. -- nothing fixed this.

comment Shrink RAID by removing a disk?
Thanks a lot for these detailed instructions. I'll first wait for my RAID array to finish rebuilding after having replaced an HDD (total capacity: 17.86 TB, it's taking some time).

comment Shrink RAID by removing a disk?
Sure, but I have to go to the office, pop a disk out and insert a replacement disk. Having a spare allows to do this remotely.

comment How to shrink Windows 7 boot partition with unmovable files
Also have a look at WindowsITPro (windowsitpro.com/storage/…) for hints as to what could prevent shrinking a disk: System Restore, IE temporary files index, Windows Search Index, Pagefile.

comment Drobo redundancy
My understanding of how Drobo works when it gets near to 100% full is that it slows down I/O exponentially to give you enough time to insert a new drive in the array.

comment What to put on a MacOS X SSD?
Moving write intensive tasks to an SSD is not a good idea, as the disks will quickly wear out, so I doubt that swapping to an SSD is a good idea. Rather add more RAM.

comment How do I restore Windows 7 from a System Image to a Boot Camp partition without formatting?
I've experimented quite a bit with Windows Restore and I have not been able to come up with a way to preserve the target disk partitions. Restoring a system image will replace everything.
