comment Where and how are logon and startup scripts for graphics desktop managed?
I use Ubuntu, but I am interested in how the start up scripts in general are managed, X11, Gnome or KDE

I was hoping it was possible via Greasemonkey. I will search some more and if there isn't a regular Firefox extension capable of that I will create one myself. From my last work on a Greasemonkey script I noticed that Greasemonkey detects changes to a script even if it wasn't opened from the Greasemonkey dialog.

Hi Brock :), it is equivalent to adding or removing a web URI from the pages a Greasemonkey extension is enabled for, ie adjusting the URIs in the @include lines dynamically with a single click, without having to go into the Grease monkey preferences to change it there. I will edit the question to explain it better.

tmux was another utility I had in mind but I have no experience with it but I know it will be useful one day.

@KingSkippus There are quite a few good bash and screen related answers here, so I will give it sometime.

Aren't there any user files in the user's home directories? I thought that menu files customised by a user will be in the user's home directory.

@laurent Thats interesting, I didn't know that. It may come in handy sooner than I think.
