comment Update to Windows 10 and now can't save files
Can you save it to sub folders? You are not supposed to be saving stuff to that folder anyway, for organization's sake.

comment Witcher 3 causes PC to restart randomly
@DavidGrinberg As a computer technician and software developer with 17 years of experience with a degree on computer science, I don't see any reason to keep this discussion going. I know exactly what I'm talking about.

@DavidGrinberg You still don't get it. If the systems and drivers were perfect, they would never malfunction. They malfunction because they are NOT perfect. The point is, if they malfunction, who's fault is that, the system / driver manufacturer, or the application that is just trying to use them? The answer is always the manufacturer, because the system and drivers are never supposed to allow an application to prejudice the entire system. Its one of their most fundamental jobs to prevent that.

@DavidGrinberg It doesn't come to the point, if an unstable application is crashing your entire system, its system, driver or hardware fault. Theres no such lame excuse as "crazy bugs happen". Everything happens for a reason, and when the reason is system or driver, the manufacturers have the responsability to release updates to fix all the problems they can find, urgently, as they are major security issues.

@DavidGrinberg I don't think you realize whats the whole purpose of an operating system. Putting in simple terms, if its not protecting the other applications from an unstable one its not doing its job.

@Dave Just because it used to work doesn't automatically discard hardware fault, things break. Some high address memory sector can have gone bad, all work fine until you load something big enough (the game) to require mapping that area, and when you do, the system crash.

@DavidGrinberg You can do any bug you want, if the system reboots because of it its system, driver or hardware fault. No exceptions. The MS-DOS era has been over for decades, modern systems control the hardware, not the application you are running.

Alcohol can react with plastic parts, severely staining them. I wouldn't recommend using it, specially on the screen.

comment Formatted PC wont boot from CD
@Ramhound Also, the BIOS don't do retries when it fails to read the boot disk, so any problem reading the boot sector will result in failure. Ensuring the boot sector can be read without complications is essential for a reliable boot CD. This is done by burning the media in the lowest speed available in your recorder, because by doing that you make a strong track easy to read. I've delt with enough old PCs to know all that.

@Ramhound He said himself its an old PC. We don't have CD-ROMs nowadays that cannot read DVDs, but there used to be those. If he is inserting a DVD in a device that can only read CDs it won't work. Maybe even the architecture is wrong, it can be a 64-bit system boot disk on a CPU that can only accept 32-bit.

comment Formatted PC wont boot from CD
Some old devices may require several tries because the BIOS may not wait long enough for the CD/DVD-ROM to respond with the boot sector and say the boot failed right away. A head clener disk can help in those cases. Burning the media in the lowest speed available can also help it become more reliable.

Its a CD-ROM and you are trying to insert a DVD, or you failed to properly burn the ISO in the media to preserve the boot sector, or you burnt it with a higher speed than the reader is capable of reading. The BIOS must be configured properly since you were able to use Hiren Boot CD, so I suppose its not a configuration issue. Try to find out what you are doing wrong hardware-wise.

comment Can I use my Wi-Fi router to connect my desktop to a Wi-Fi Internet?
Does it support client mode? Sometimes refered as "Client-Infrastructure". If it does, you can use it to connect to a Wi-Fi network and serve as bridge between your desktop's Ethernet adapter and the Wi-Fi network.
