I think it might be an audio device. Did a quick search on the hardware vendor id and got some hits about audio drivers. Also, noticed that there is no audio device listed in device manger.

Just noticed that command help also provides this info. dir /? prints following at the bottom: Switches may be preset in the DIRCMD environment variable. Override preset switches by prefixing any switch with - (hyphen)--for example, /-W.

worked like a charm for the actions listed. Doesn't have a negative effect on RDP like remapping Command <-> Control buttons.

It seems that bash isn't default for OSx. So I have to type in 'bash' to take advantage of the feature. I also noticed that autocomplete does not distinguish between folders and files, so when I type 'cd ' and hit TAB files will also be cycled.
