I've worked extensively with Borland Pascal and Delphi and was one of the original members of Borland's TeamB on Compuserve for over a decade. More recently my interests have moved to C# and Microsoft's .NET framework.

comment Extra large, high visibility, cursors for windows?
Bill Myers (the guy that made those cursors I found) also told me about a simple website for creating cursors at cursor.cc

You can't change an existing cursor to a different color and there aren't any colored cursors provided with Win 8.1, but you can load custom cursors you provide. Custom cursors can be colorful. You have to use the old school desktop Mouse Control Panel applet to load them.

Not a bad idea. I may use it to add the few missing cursors to the set I found.

That's an option. I suspect installing VLC would work as well (still waiting for their Win8 version from Kickstarter to be released). I'd still rather just use the built-in player if I could figure out what codec I need.

Thanks for the thought. I could transcode them. I could also edit out all the commercials and otherwise compress them. But these aren't video's I have any interest in keeping for the long term. It'd just be nice to be able to watch some shows occasionally from my tablet without special preparation. I used to do this with my Win7 notebook no problem. Win8 is missing some codecs though and it doesn't work out of the box. I'm wondering what codec is missing.

comment What's the Windows “PORTPROMPT:” printer port?
As a total aside, what's up with Microsoft putting documents like that up as DOCX downloads rather than just put the article as a webpage in the first place?
