revised Does an MKV tag/metadata editor for Mac OSX exist?
From description and comments it is apparent that the poster is interested in an editor for OSX only.

comment How do I make a machine “blank screen” for a period of time (as a penalty) if certain noise levels are reached?
For the described usage (start automatically + run every few minutes) a cron job is the right tool to use. Much simpler to setup and more robust than using init script + bash loop + sleep.

comment The suggested way to handle pip(easy_install) with homebrew?
FYI, just tried it and scipy installs like a charm inside virtualenv. There were a couple of minor issues (numpy not listed as a dep, me not having installed a fortran compiler) but nothing puzzling or hard to overcome. I'd bet that the other two modules won't have a problem either, provided you have installed the required native libraries and headers with brew. If you have some specific problem with your installation, please ask a new question with the details and don't just call BS on a solution that worked for this question and should work for the vast majority of cases.

What you mean "move"? The whole idea is that you install your modules in your virtualenv and use no system-wide installation locations.

comment Automatic highlighting of text in thunderbird
Again, this won't fit my purpose. When I get a lot of email and I am under load, I tend to quickly scan through my emails and leave them in my Inbox to read more carefully later. What I want is a visual cue to hint me that I should read the specific email carefully right now, rather than leave it for later.

Thanks! This is pretty-much what I was looking for. Only problem is that it doesn't highlight with Thunderbird Conversations enabled.(addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/…) Any workarounds to this problem are most welcome. Otherwise I'll see what I can hack out of it.
