comment How can I copy (cp) a directories contents without the directory itself
shell scripting is programming, just as much as say, javascript is. However, you'll probably get a better answer on ServerFault.

comment How to enable hardware virtualization on Asus motherboard
FYI on my M4A78LT mobo, it was called "secure virtual machine" under the CPU tab. Sometimes I wish manufacturers wouldn't try to dumb things down.

comment Audio issues during KVM switch
dude, you're the man! I thought it was the KVM until I plugged the speaker directly into the back of my PC, and it still dropped volume when switching to the other PC. I think the root cause is that the KVM disconnects all USB (as my USB speaker soundbar cuts out completely).

comment How To run Multiple Versions of the Same Program on Windows 7
then its an issue with the app opening a single-use resource (eg a network connection or something) which the 2nd instance cannot open simultaneously. As a result you cannot run 2 instances together. You could run the 2nd in a virtual machine, but that's the best you're going to get.

comment Why are graphics cards upside-down?
I'm not convinced - the coldest air is sucked in the front and then upwards to the exhaust fan next to the CPU. So the bottom of the case at the back doesn't really get good airflow. Especially when there a large PCB trapping it

comment Why is my Asus P5PL2-E using 640MB of RAM (out of 4GB)?
no, 32-bit OS can see 4 Gb. Windows takes 1 or 2Gb for itself. What the 'hole' is, is a block of reserved space that old specifications put there ('cos 4Gb was more than anyone could imagine once upon a time)

comment How do I delete leaktest.exe?
next step is to take ownership (admins may not have security access, but they can always take ownership and then alter it), or it is in-use by a running application.

comment high pitched whine from newly built PC
without the GFX card, most mobos will beep at you. However, they will still be on and running, so you can check whether you can hear the whine inbetween beeps.
