comment CPU usage jumps to 100% -> WHEN <- machine is idle (not the idle process)
You set DMA/PIO mode under the properties of your hard drive controllers in Device Manager, not the hard drives themselves.

comment How much space do I need to reserve for %TMP% and %TEMP%?
Your question was in bold. "Is a ramdrive suitable for this?" -- Especially considering the context, the answer is "no."

There's no way that I know of within Windows to determine the source of a hardware interrupt. It goes directly from the device to the CPU by design. You may want to try marking down the model numbers of each of your internal devices and see if there are any known issues for them with regards to excessive interrupts. Sometimes it's as simple as a HD being set to PIO mode instead of DMA.

comment Does ClipX work on Windows 7 / 2008 R2 x64 SP1?
I don't know exactly what the change was. I'm not a developer, but all of the custom .NET applications that our developers created had to be rewritten for Win7 because the clipboard integration just stopped working. Perhaps it was a certain library that they were using.

comment DropBox like software that lets me host my own files
I know not of anything like this, but I would be extremely interested if someone else has heard of relatively simple software that could do this.

comment Need to remove personal data but unable to boot up
@TheJourneymanGeek The recovery partition wouldn't have anything to do with it. Wiping the full drive with DBAN would more than be sufficient for most intents and purposes.

comment Next Firefox version: how to *easily* check extension/add-on compatibility?
Are your extensions actually incompatible, or are you just pulling your hair out from worry because it maybe could happen?

comment Mailing list with mail-based admin system
Mailman's mail-based functions are listed here: gnu.org/software/mailman/mailman-member/node10.html -- for example sending "who (password)" to "mylist-admin@domain.com" will return a list of subscribers, or am I misunderstanding your need?

comment How can I prevent my wireless mouse from waking my Windows 7 computer?
I have absolutely no idea what it causing your problem, but I feel the need to let you know that this was one of the most well-constructed questions I've seen on StackExchange lately.

comment Do fast copy programs work?
Now if anyone has any tools that make copying ~3,000,000 10k files a bit faster, I'm all ears; All of the above are equally suck for millions of tiny files as far as I can tell.
