comment Safely get rid of “You have new mail in /var/mail” on a Mac?
@geotheory The choice between .bashrc and .bash_profile is not specific to the version of the OS. Rather, it concerns login vs non-login shells. See here for more details: joshstaiger.org/archives/2005/07/bash_profile_vs.html

comment Cross-platform usable filesystem with large file support
@JoelESalas Agreed. exFAT works out of the box with OSX and Windows, and on Ubuntu all that is required is a simple sudo apt-get -y install exfat-utils exfat-fuse

comment Scroll “less” output using scroll wheel on Mac OS X
As an update to this question, I have since learned that "less" belongs to a family of applications called pagers. You can set your default pager in your .bashrc file in most Unices, and there are options outside of less that do support scrolling with the mouse wheel. mcview is one example, but there are others as well.

comment Vim configuration slow in Terminal & iTerm2 but not in MacVim
To clarify, this is referring to the terminal application's opacity and blur settings, not the settings of Vim itself. Works like a charm though, thanks for the tip!
