I find that cooling the ambient environment a couple of degrees with my A/C helps keep my computers cooler. You would have to see how much that costs, comparing your power bill with the same month last year perhaps, but it's probably cheaper than a new laptop anyway.

Um, that symbol you're calling a “dot comma” is usually known as a “period”.

(2) Are you talking about using that little dot in the corner that you drag? I never use that thing. Copy the formula and paste it into the target cells. Or use control-D to duplicate. (3) As far as I know, a comma is standard to separate items in Excel formulas.

The iconv should have converted to UFT-8 as well. I suspect his terminal is using another encoding.

That iconv recipe should have converted Shift-JIS to UTF-8. Did it display as 闃セ? What terminal program are you using?
