I'm primarily a computer and photography enthusiast, but I have a variety of other interests as well, from video games to fountain pens. I take the accuracy and correctness of my contributions very seriously; if there are any problems with my posts, feel free to edit them or let me know in chat if you have any questions or comments.

As a photographer, I use a Pentax K-5 (as well as a K-r as a backup or secondary camera), with a small selection of Pentax lenses. You can also find me on Pentax Forums.

Note that I'm not really into tabletop RPGs. I simply felt that this image suits me best.

Besides, if the system is beeping at startup, then this is happening during POST and therefore is a hardware issue, not a virus.

comment Is it possible to set up a bare-metal hypervisor on my laptop?
Yes, a lot of this functionality is still going to be limited. Some hypervisors don't support sound at all—Hyper-V certainly doesn't. Other features like direct GPU access are often either unavailable or require special setup in both the host and guest. Bare-metal hypervisors are meant for servers, so this is extra functionality that isn't always provided.

comment Will Logitech SetPoint settings be saved in the mouse if I move it to a linux PC?
Roccat mice are much better in this regard, they store profiles into the mice. My Roccat Kone XTD will work exactly as it would on Windows on a Linux machine. There's even a community-maintained driver for Roccat mice.

Looks like malware on that computer—isolate it from the rest of your network, and see if an AV program can find something.

@Derecho no. Your smartctl data indicate the temperatures are well within normal operating limits (39 C is perfectly normal).

Looks like the drives are intermittently disconnecting from the system. Are the cables firmly seated? If not, this is probably some SATA controller issue.
