comment Prevent history deletion on Google Chrome
This looks like a really great answer but it's not working for me. (OS X El Capitan, updated, Chrome, updated as of this post.)

comment How to hide the tab bar in Google Chrome
Actually, now I can't get this search engine hack to work. No matter the differences I mentioned in my last comment, I cannot get the original tab to close after opening the new window.

comment How to hide the tab bar in Google Chrome
For this to work for me (window is not closing but other window is opening) on Chrome 42 on OS X 10.11, I need to make sure "javascript:" is on the front and "window.close()" has a trailing semicolon.

comment Keyboard shortcut for hiding downloads bar in Chrome
Best answer in the other threads: open Downloads page, then close tab. On Mac, I push Cmd + Shift + J then Cmd + W.

comment Google Chrome Auto-Close Download Bar
Fyi, I think the resizing thing isn't Google's fault. Look at other os x apps, Safari for instance resizes when the tab bar appears (like when you open a second tab using default settings), etc, etc. This is one of thing about os x that is absolutely annoying.
