Self trained geek, odd to the core.

Im dyslexic, so, if I cant spell, and dont do much grammer this is why.

My biggest bug bear in life is:

"I tried absolutely nothing, and Im all out of ideas"

You try, I'll help, you dont try, I wont help.

If people bother to try and help you, be thankful, dont be rude and ungrateful because it really pulls down the purpose of this site. In the last week, Ive posted accurate answers on many questions, and have seen many others suffer the same, and you know what, it really does take away the joy of trying to help.

comment Linux filesystem; difference in calculating size using df & du
It maybe production but sometimes a reboot is the only answer. Thats the unfortunate problem of it being your root disk and all your OS is on it. Which is why many advocate the use of tmp, var, home etc being on other disks, as they can then be remounted. It seems to be more common that the OS doesnt realise the space is available to the root disk.

comment Is Silverlight much slower than Flash or is it the site?
Silverlight is not necessary slower, however, the internet being the volatile thing it is, you'd need exactly the same item, through flash and Silverlight off the same server, at the same time. to be sure.

Not without external software no. You told it to delete it completely, a little like doing it from command line, it didnt go to recycle bin

comment How do I forward my local port on Mac OS?
In short, its not a simple answer, there are a lot of variables. Your mac may have a firewall on it, it may not, your network probably does, how to configure your networks firewall/router is a very specific thing. You would do best to determine what your network connectivity is, and what firewalls are there. If you're at home, its probably just an ASDL router, if you're at work, then you need your network team to deal with it.

Good idea, VNC only allows 1 user though, so that could be a limitation, plus in a commercial environment you need to pay for it too. RDP is a good idea, especially if you have windows 2k8 as that basically has citrix like capabilities
